A new initiative is now in place at LSA housed in a completely refurbished and well-equipped room, made vacant due to the building of our new Science Block.
The accommodation, which offers a more informal approach to school life for selected students, incorporates a relaxing seating area, kitchen, computer area and light-sensory room, as well areas to support theoretical and practical lessons.
LINC – forms part of our inclusive approach to learning. Lytham Inclusion Centre has been established to offer further support to vulnerable students in a bid to help them overcome the challenges and barriers they face in school. This takes the form of 'nurture' sessions which are important for the development of self esteem. LINC supports Year 7, 8, and 9 students in a safe, purpose built base, with availability for yrs 10 & 11 in the afternoons.
We recognise that Children’s learning should be understood developmentally and that transition is significant in the lives of children, and small changes can be difficult. The students are offered support for up to 12 weeks, and a programme of carefully planned and monitored reintegration is put into place to give the students the best chance of continued success.
Students invited into the unit still maintain contact with their peer groups at registration and breaks returning to the last period of eachday. Parents, carers & families are also important to the success of this venture and are invited to support activities or pop in for a cup of tea!
Two members of staff are working closely together to create this positive learning environment, Sharon Donaldson Inclusion Manager and Sarah Lee Teaching Assistant said, “We have already seen a positive response from the students accessing LINC, and are excited about the future”
