Not only has Year 9 student Ben Holmes an exciting date carrying the Olympic Torch but he was thrust further into the media world when the BBC North West team came to the school to film him prior to the run. It was an exciting morning for Ben, his mother and brother, his teachers and fellow students. He was filmed throwing the discus on the playing fields, and in a classroom situation. The filming was featured in the North West BBC news last week. Ben is carrying the Olympic torch on 22nd June at 16.30. His route is on Broadway in Fleetwood, carrying the torch 400 metres to Fleetwood High School. Born with a form of dwarfism but has shown himself to be a great sportsman having picked up six medals at the Dwarf Sport Association (UK) National Games in Birmingham early this month with his speciality discuss and shot-put expertise.
