Two of our Colleges, Newton and King, clubbed together to give a substantial donation to the charity Donna's Dream House, Blackpool.
The Donna’s Dream House Charity in Blackpool is a locally based trust providing free holiday experiences for children and teenagers with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and for recently bereaved siblings and their families.
Activities to raise money ranged from 'Fundraising Friday' cake sales, sponsored walks and street games, car-washing and guessing games.
Other novel ideas were planting summer seeds and selling he flowers, sponsored silences lasting 7 hours and penalty shoot out on the Asto turf.
The students were able to present the money themselves when they visited the Dream House, toured the facilities and were lucky enough able to meet up with a family staying there, Carol & Andy Pullen and their daughter.
Carol said "We are having a wonderful time here and would like to thank these students who have raised money to help families like us."
Len Curtis, MBE,Chairman of the charity, said 'A big thanks for this phenomenal amount of money. We would not be able to function without the generosity of students like these who make our work here possible."
