Once again LSA students played host to 31 students from Gymnasium St.Christophorus School in St.Annes twin town,Werne for a week's vacation. As part of the exchange the German and English students involved visited the Lake District and Blackpool Tower.
Dutch student Jamie Short had a lovely surprise visit from his former Headteacher, Bertil Velthuis and form teacher and PE instructor Sascha Van Der Meer, from Denekamp, in the east of the Holland close to the border of Germany.
The idea originated when History teacher James Hutchings made up a short song about Easterleigh to the tune of 'Living on a Prayer' The group liked it so much that they made a video which they eventually put on YouTube!
Year 11 LSA student, and graphic design enthusiast, Charlie Morton, 16, launched his career with a bang when his year 11 work experience placement turned into the opportunity of a lifetime.
LSA has many close links with our local primary schools so recently an initiative for Sue Strother (Pyramid Club and Peer Mentor) and former 6th form student Jennie Richards and two peer mentors, to pay a visit to Year 6 classes has materialised.
Clifton Park Hotel was the venue for a spectacular Summer Ball for our parents friends and staff. There was live music by local band 'Smooth Chalk' playing swing, party and DJ sets all through the evening, a close up magician, balloon raffles with fabulous prizes and 15 lucrative silent auction lots.
The stops were all pulled out to collect funds for Downs Syndrome Research involving raffles organised by Learning Support Department, a raffle organised and supported by staff and a a fund-raising Friday by Whittle College.
In the Tournament held at Rossall School 22nd May our Year 8 team beat Rossall in the semi and then went on to beat Baines by half a rounder on the final ball to become overall Champions.
Once again Year 11 student Ben Holmes is in the news. He attended the 20th National Dwarf Games in Birmingham at the May Bank Holiday and swept the board, arriving home with a clutch of medals

For the past three months a group of high-flying Year 11 students have been working to encourage improved literacy skills across the school.
