There are a wide range of fantastic trip to sign up for throughout the academic year. Below are a few exciting example.

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award helps you to build skills for life! You'll find yourself helping your community, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity.


A number of our students entered the European Astro Pi Challenge competition with a coding project that works out population density by looking at light intensity at night time. We are so pleased to let you know that their project got through the competition and their code will run on the International Space Station. The team will receive the results back from space and then will analyse the data collected and write a report on the findings.

Cultural trip

Mrs Boyle runs a 2 day trip to London every December where we have great fun exploring the many sites and local attractions including a West End Musical.

French trip

From this year, pupils in Years 7 and 8 will be going on a mini trip to France, visiting a boulangerie, snail farm, chocolate workshop and the market of Boulogne.

Geography trip

The Geography Department run many different field trips where the students get to experience Geography outside of the classroom. Year 7 field trip investigates rivers and karst landscapes in

German Exchange

The link between LSA Technology and Performing Arts College and its German partner, St Christophorus Gymnasium in Werne, has been active for 21 years. The exchange is extremely popular with students in both countries and each year more than 30 students participate. The visit included visits to Blackpool, the Lake District and Chester followed by project work.


Year 7 Math Easter Hunt - Every year we invite Year 7 students to take part in a mathematical Easter egg hunt around school. There's lots of chocolate involve and it's great fun.

Year 7 Maths Challenge - Every year we take part in UKMT maths challenge. The UKMT Individuals are lively, intriguing multiple choice question papers, which are designed to stimulate interest in maths. Successful participants receive a bronze, silver or gold award.

Inter-college countdown competition - We also run a countdown competition where by each college gets a team together completing lots of countdown style calculations.

Whole school activities - The maths department are always keen to get involved in whole school activities. On World Book Day this year the maths block became Hogwarts and students were taught Harry Potter themed lessons.

PE trip

The PE Department are running their annual Ski Trip to Austria taking place 15th – 23rd March 2019. Costing £1010, the trip is open to Year 7 – 10 (Year 11 GCSE PE students only) and all abilities are welcome. For more information ask Miss Gibbons.


Young Engineers competition - A number of students represented LSA in The Gazette Young Engineers competition 2017. The competition put their STEM skills to the test in the challenging task to design and fly model aircraft. Despite the difficulties, the students were delighted to have won the fantastic title of 'Young Engineers 2017', taking the prize money of £10, 000 back to school with them.

BAE STEM roadshow - BAE Systems (who are partners with the RAF and the Royal Navy) gave a presentation to our Year 8 students about STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The presentation showed students the importance of computer technology and the connection between what they study in school and the day to day applications in the real world.
