1 March 2018

There will be activities and initiatives running in English lessons and in the library (which will continue to April 23rd, which is UN National Book & Copyright Day and UK World Book Night).

World Book Day at LSA, 2018.

Students have received their WBD tokens. These can be used in any bookshops with books valued £2.99 and over. The organisers of World Book Day are supplying 5 full-length teen reads at a special price of £1.99 (with a token) for the duration of the offer.

Charitable collection for Book Aid International

We're having a Big Book Swap in aid of Book Aid International. Students are bringing in a book from home that's no longer needed and making a 50p donation to take part in the swap. The more students that take part, the better the choice will be for everyone. Any unused books from the event will go into our Library collection and all of the money donated will go to Book Aid International.

Low-Fi Animations

English Reading lessons in the Library for years 7 & 8 are reading quotes about Books, Libraries and Reading. They're picking the most inspiring to make short stop-motion animated films promoting the reading of books.

Blind Book Dating

Readers have been selecting their favourite books and wrapping them up for others to borrow on a Blind Book Date this week. The display comes with well-penned recommendations to help readers decide which to choose as their next book.

Origami Bookworms

With all of the above activities going on in Library lessons, students have also had a chance to make their own Origami Book Worm bookmarks.
