Image of Connecting our classrooms around the globe!

LSA recently embarked on a fabulous opportunity to partner with Ningbo Beilun Taihe High School in China. Part of our project ideas are to learn about each other's cultures and add another global dimension to students knowlwge of the wider world.

A whole school bookmark exchange was initiated a few weeks ago and many forms took part in the activity which asked students to identify what they thought stood out to be British. In return, Ningbo Beilun Taihe High School will send back bookmarks that identifies their culture. Many forms within the school colleges took part in the exchange with approximately 300 bookmarks handed in having been decorated and designed by students. Many drew colourful ones that depicted symbols such as the Queen, our flag and even fish and chips! Others went even further and used laminate and finally one in particular a hand made one submitted by Tia Hodson in Year 8 took first prize. Her bookmark consisted of a fabric encased bookmark representing one of the Queen's grenadier guards that stand guard at Buckingham palace and number 10 Downing Street! Very British indeed, Well done Tia!
