Image of 40 students visit France!
On Thursday 5th July 40 students from Years 7 and 8 left for a trip to the Opal Coast  in Northern France.  The first day saw a trip to a ‘boulangerie’ where students discovered how artisan bread was made.  They also had the opportunity to try ‘pain au chocolat’.  In the evening, they practised their French before the trip to the market on Saturday.

The local market offered many opportunities for students to put their French skills to the test, buying pastries, strawberries and other French delicacies.  After a tour of the town in the afternoon we visited Nausicaá, the biggest aquarium in Europe.  Our day ended with a quiz on France and a flossing competition.

On Sunday we visited a snail farm.  After a talk on snails, we had the opportunity to visit the farm before tasting some snail dishes.  We started with a snail pâté, followed by snails fried in garlic and herb butter and served in a pastry case.  A surprising number of students were brave enough to try these French delicacies.  Sunday afternoon was spent on the beautiful beach at Le Touquet.  In the evening, we finished off a fabulous day with a visit to the local bowling alley.

On Monday, before catching our ferry, we visited a local ‘chocolaterie’.  After listening to a talk on chocolate students had the opportunity to decorate their own bars of chocolate before a visit to the shop.
We were really proud of how much French our students spoke during their trip to France.  They made a real impression on the locals, who stopped us on a number of occasions to compliment them.

We are starting to plan our next trip to France and more details should be available in September.
