A group of LSA students took part in an exciting MEGA digital skills event this week, where they explored cutting-edge technologies and took on a series of hands-on challenges in coding, robotics and problem solving.
Hosted by Blackpool and Fylde College, the MEGA event is part of Lancashire County Council’s wider initiative to boost digital skills and open career pathways in areas such as AI, cyber security, robotics and machine learning. The programme aims to inspire young people across the county through immersive, industry-informed activities designed by IN4 Group and leading technology partners.
During the event, students worked with block-code robotics, cracked digital puzzles, and collaborated in teams to complete STEM-based challenges. The experience gave them a taste of the fast-moving world of future technology — and a chance to see how these skills connect to real careers in the digital sector.
LSA students showed outstanding teamwork, creativity and resilience throughout the day, and we are delighted to share that one of our groups won the overall competition, proudly collecting their medals on stage in front of all participating schools.
The event was described by students as “exciting”, “a great challenge”, and “inspiring”, with many saying that trying new technologies has opened their eyes to potential career opportunities they had never considered before.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Blackpool and Fylde College for hosting such a fantastic day, and to the Lancashire MEGA initiative for providing these opportunities to young people across the region.
LSA is proud to continue giving students access to innovative enrichment activities that help build confidence, digital literacy and aspirations for the future.
