This will be my final blog of this term, so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a restful break with your families. The past fortnight has seen a sustained outbreak of flu across the school, this strain seems to be particularly virulent and schools throughout the country are suffering, with some closing due to the number of infections. We look forward to school attendance returning to normal but more importantly our young people being healthy and active again. Please take extra care over Christmas, especially if you are spending time with elderly relatives.

I'd like to thank parents for responding to our uniform consultation. I will share the findings with you all early in the new year. I am committed to reducing the cost of uniform for parents and also addressing the more visible problems with our current arrangements. I will give parents at least 6 month's notice of any changes that we will put in place for September 2026. This is to be fair to you and to ensure that you are aware of the cost implications early.

Finally, after Christmas, we will be having a big push on punctuality to class. As you all know we have been taking swift action on the internal truancy that had developed since the pandemic lockdowns. After Christmas we will be focusing on punctuality to lessons. This may mean that parents get messages about their children being late for class. If you could support our work by following up with conversations at home, it will help us enormously. Our young people only get one chance at a public education so every second counts. Thank you all for your continued support.
