This March, Lytham St Annes High School is celebrating the power of reading and storytelling with LSA Lit Fest 2026, a series of exciting events and workshops taking place throughout the month.

The festival began on World Book Day with a special visit from former LSA students Ella Peebles and Leah Bainbridge. The pair spoke to students about their collaborative poetry anthology Watch Us Begin and delivered creative writing workshops, giving students a chance to develop their own ideas and explore the process of creating and publishing a book.

On Friday 6th March, students will hear from bestselling author Sarah Underwood. Her debut novel Lies We Sing to the Sea became an instant New York Times, indie and international bestseller. Sarah will deliver a talk to Year 10 and Year 11 students, as well as running writing workshops with selected Year 8 and Year 9 students, helping them develop their storytelling and creative writing skills.

Later in the month, author Julian Sedgwick will visit the school on Thursday 19th March. Known for his Carnegie Medal shortlisted novel Tsunami Girl and his award-winning manga-style book 100 Tales from the Tokyo Ghost Café, Julian will be speaking to Geography students about his experiences living in Japan and how these experiences influence his writing.

The festival will conclude on Tuesday 24th March with a visit from Ruth E. Cockburn, a local comedian and writer who works with Showtown and HeadStart Blackpool. Ruth will be working with students involved in the Poetry By Heart competition, coaching the finalists and helping judge the event.

LSA Lit Fest 2026 is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with authors, explore creativity and see how a love of reading and writing can develop into exciting opportunities beyond school. ????✨
