As part of LSA Lit Fest 2026, we were delighted to welcome back acclaimed author Julian Sedgwick for a full day of workshops and assemblies with our students.

Julian, whose works include the Carnegie Medal shortlisted Tsunami Girl and Orpheus Black, worked closely with our Geography students, sharing fascinating insights from his time living in Japan. His experiences brought a unique perspective to his writing, helping students to better understand the cultural and real-world influences behind his stories.

Throughout the day, students were fully engaged as Julian delivered a series of interactive sessions, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. A particular highlight was the opportunity for students to explore exclusive, never-before-seen content from his upcoming work, which generated real excitement and curiosity.

His manga-style novel Tokyo Ghost Café continues to be a firm favourite among LSA students, and it was fantastic to see such enthusiasm for his work during his visit.

We are incredibly grateful to Julian for returning to LSA and supporting this year’s Lit Fest. His visit has once again inspired our students to read widely, think creatively, and explore the world through literature.
