13 July 2026
Students from Years 7 to 10 went head-to-head in this year's LSA Chess Championship, kindly sponsored by the Lytham Rotary Club.
The annual competition saw students battle through an exciting two-and-a-half-hour knockout tournament, with every match requiring concentration, patience and tactical thinking. After a series of closely contested games, Tabitha (Year 8) emerged victorious to become the 2026 LSA Chess Champion.
Congratulations also go to Kreed, who played brilliantly throughout the afternoon to reach the final and finish as this year's runner-up.
We were delighted to welcome Richard from the Lytham Rotary Club, who once again came along to support the event and present the trophies to our finalists. We are incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club for their continued sponsorship and support of chess at LSA.
A huge well done to every student who took part in this year's championship. The standard of play was excellent throughout the tournament, with competitors demonstrating fantastic resilience, sportsmanship and strategic thinking.
Congratulations once again to Tabitha, our 2026 LSA Chess Champion, and to Kreed for an excellent second-place finish. We look forward to seeing the competition return next year!
