Last night was our Year 6 Information Evening, which followed our full open evening in summer. It was a delight to see so many families in our school. There is so much to be proud of and so much for us to celebrate. In my first 5 weeks at the school, I have been amazed by the dedication of the staff here, at all levels their care for our young people is inspiring. It gave me great pride to talk about the huge array of trips, visits and extra-curricular activities that go on here; the opportunities that our young people get are unrivalled and this happens, not because our parents pay fees for education, but because our staff are so committed to offering the best. Behind every school are its unsung heroes and heroines: the cleaners who present the school so well, the welfare and catering staff that make lunch and break times work so effectively and the wide array of support staff who ensure that the LSA show happens. I'd like to offer you all my personal thanks and gratitude.

There is so much to be proud of, and I have been awed by how quickly our young people have responded to the challenge that I set them this term: uniform has improved immeasurably, corridors are an ocean of calm, and the beginnings of lessons are purposeful and structured. These are the building blocks of great schools and whilst some young people are still struggling to break bad habits, the vast majority have responded with aplomb. We will carry on working on basic standards because without them we are letting our school community down. After Christmas we will be driving punctuality to lessons, ensuring that no learning time is wasted; I have no doubt that the school will respond again to the challenge. Thank you all for your continued support, I am, more than ever, proud to be LSA!
