Our Year 7 students have been developing their practical cooking techniques this term, putting their knife skills to the test while preparing fresh Greek salads in Food Technology.
As part of their current unit, students have been learning how to safely handle and use a range of kitchen knives. They focused on key techniques including the bridge hold and claw grip, helping them chop, slice and dice ingredients with precision and confidence.
The lesson saw classrooms filled with the vibrant colours and fresh aromas of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and peppers as students carefully prepared their ingredients. Not only were they practising important technical skills, but they were also learning about balanced diets and the nutritional value of fresh produce.
Greek salad was the perfect recipe to combine these new skills, encouraging students to work independently while following hygiene and safety procedures correctly. Staff were impressed with the focus, maturity and enthusiasm shown throughout the lesson.
Well done to all our Year 7 students for their excellent effort and growing confidence in the kitchen. We look forward to seeing their skills continue to develop over the year.
